The Alameda County Workforce Development Board (ACWDB) is proud to announce an exciting achievement: the California Workforce Development Board has officially certified ACWDB as a High Performing Board for July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029. This prestigious recognition places Alameda County among the top workforce boards in the state—an honor earned by only about 60 percent of boards statewide.
This milestone highlights ACWDB’s ongoing commitment to innovation, collaboration, and service excellence in supporting our region’s workers, businesses, and community partners.
As a reward, the state will award ACWDB with incentive funds from a discretionary fund set aside for high performing boards.
A Significant Accomplishment | To earn this distinction, ACWDB demonstrated outstanding results across federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) measures for adults, dislocated workers, and youth. ACWDB also showcased strong alignment with California’s Unified Strategic Workforce Development Plan, reinforcing our leadership in shaping an effective and inclusive workforce system.
A Strategic and Inclusive Approach | The certification recognizes ACWDB’s thoughtful and collaborative planning process. Employers, labor organizations, education partners from K–12 through postsecondary institutions, industry groups, and community organizations all play a role in shaping workforce strategies that are responsive to the region’s dynamic economy. Labor market data further guides these decisions, ensuring that programs meet real needs and create meaningful impact.
Championing Local Businesses | The certification also recognizes ACWDB’s strong commitment to engaging local businesses. Through a coordinated business services approach, employers have a direct voice in shaping workforce initiatives and accessing qualified talent.
Leadership Reflections | “This is a tremendous accomplishment for our entire organization,” said ACWDB Director Rhonda Boykin. “It reflects the hard work, creativity, and dedication of our staff and service providers who show up every day to support our community.”
ACWDB Assistant Director Latoya Reed-Adjei said, “We are thrilled to be recognized as a High Performing Board. This honor celebrates the strength of our partnerships and our shared mission to empower job seekers, support local businesses, and help drive economic growth throughout Alameda County.”
Looking Ahead | Earning the High Performing Board certification underscores ACWDB’s role as a regional leader in workforce development—and serves as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when collaboration, data-driven strategy, and a commitment to community come together.
